Feedback is a Gift
We are committed to the care and cultivation of an inclusive culture in partner acrobatics. Understanding impact on individuals in acro spaces is incredibly important to us — both for the care of anyone harmed in the space, and for learning about how to prevent such harms in the future.
In the spirit of care, we’ve created an incident reporting process to help both BACCES and event organizers learn about experiences during any festivals/trainings. We want to share our process publicly to inform everyone on what to expect.
The forms below allow you to offer feedback or report bias incidents in the acro community. Please select whether you would like to report an incident or offer feedback regarding one of our partner events/festivals, or a more general occurrence or something at another event that is not a BACCES partner.
When you should make a report to BACCES…
While we understand that a variety of harms can arise in acro spaces and practices, we’re especially interested in cultivating safety and equity for BIPOC participants and want to gather information about experiences that negatively impact or deter BIPOC acrobats during training. Please let us know if you witness or experience any racialized harm, (micro)aggressions, consent violations, or anything that just didn't 'feel right' in an acro setting.
What happens when a report is made…
When we receive a report from BIPOC participants outside of a partnered BACCES event (General):
A BACCES committee receives the report via our General feedback form
This committee appoints a group of 3-4 people, who will be a mix of BIPOC and White to disperse any personal bias or prejudices, to review the report
If we have any clarifying questions, we follow up to ask further (if consented to on the form)
The BACCES committee will follow-up with the reporter to inform them of the results of the report and any ongoing efforts at remediation (if consented to)
If BACCES cannot facilitate direct remediation for the incident with event organizers or other accountable parties, information from the form will be retained in a confidential way to guide our selection of future partnerships and advocacy efforts
When we receive a report from BIPOC participants at a partnered BACCES event:
A BACCES committee receives the report via our post-event/partner feedback form
There will be 3-4 people (mix of BIPOC and White) on this committee in an attempt to disperse any personal bias or prejudices
If we have any clarifying questions, we follow up to ask further (if consented to)
The BACCES committee shares the report with the event organizers (if consented to) and action will be taken to best remedy the harm done and prevent it in the future
The BACCES committee will follow-up with the reporter to inform them of the results of the report and any ongoing efforts (if consented to)
General Feedback/
Incident Reportung
We value your feedback on your experiences at acro trainings and festivals as we work to make these environments more inclusive of BIPOC experiences.
Please note that while we may not be able to take direct action on feedback you share in this form if we are not in partnership with the festival or training already, we do use this information to shape our strategy for forging new partnerships and creating pathways for BIPOC acrobats to attend trainings.
This form has 4 sections. We anticipate this taking ~5 minutes if no incident reporting, and ~10-15 minutes if there is an incident to report. The sections are as follows:
